4th of July Fare

4th of July Fare

Happy belated 4th to all ya’ll Americans! And regardless of where you’re from I hope your day was filled with pie and sparkly things anyway (because who doesn’t want that) In typical Meghan fashion I kept it pretty low key- actually if I’m being honest we did all our celebrating on the 2nd & 3rd because homegirl right here was not about to stay up late 3 nights in a row (LOL) On Saturday I met my friends in Hermosa for some beach time & a BBQ (legit guys I ate so much I looked like Blake Lively’s 4th of July pictures and she’s PREGNANT) On Sunday I had my friends over for a backyard BBQ fit for wayyyyyy more people…but I have like 4 friends sooooo….whatever #Leftovers.

Anyways- I didn’t get pictures of our whole spread (like the turkey burgers I burned) and I’m actually so pissed because I made a RED, WHITE AND BLUE POTATO SALAD! I’m so fucking Pinterest it hurts. Thankfully I was smart enough to snap some pics of the INSANE charcuterie board Ross &Kyle put together. I wish I had something for size reference so you guys could see how MASSIVE it was. And yes we ate it all. I told Ross he’s never allowed to make those nuts again because I’m pretty sure he sprinkled crack on them (kidding). Speaking of crack! Desserts! Naturally I had to make Ina’s Flag Cake  but I halved the recipe because #nonewfriends

Per my guests requests’ I also made a cherry pie with an all butter crust (#buttah) and a lattice top because it makes me feel like I have my life together. There is nothing more American than pie. Except maybe American Pie .

Watermelon is so bašïç so I thought why not amp it up and try way too hard (my life motto) and squeeze some lime & fresh mint on that bad boy? Naturally I couldn’t stop there and I suggested we cut some pieces into star shapes, thankfully Ross is a crafty boy and he whipped these up. Snaps for Rossy!!!!

What did YOU guys eat this 4th of July? Oh I guess I should ask you what you did like “turn up” wise but I’m actually just really curious what you ate… & if it was just another Monday for ya’ll- lemme know what YOUR country eats to celebrate their day!

x

Hi Meghan Rienks. Follow you on Twitter. The ergonomically correct lattice cherry pie photo goes by slices in a NY minute.

Damn, that pie looks amazing! I can’t say I really celebrate Australia Day (lol whoops) but usually to celebrate people tend to eat something like a sausage sizzle and lamingtons for dessert- all super Australian foods!

Don’t you love it when your comment doesn’t go through so you write it again, only to find out your original comment did go through? Yaaaaaay 😒

Hey Meghan I am probably your biggest fan ever you have helped me so much to get through my anxiety and awkwardness! I’m vegan and since you can’t eat dairy anyway I think if would be super cool if you could do a blog post or YouTube video featuring vegan food! Also I have recently made the discovery of whipped cream made with coconut milk instead of dairy cream and I’m absolutely in love! You’ll have to try it out if you haven’t already! Love, Elise
