Petition to change the name from

“coffee cake” to “crumb cake”

because there’s no coffee in coffee cake and my Virgo rising doesn’t like nonsensical things

Granted it’s not TOTALLY nonsensical as it’s because you eat it with coffee but

Regardless of you want to call it, the truth is that this goes FAST in my house

By the time fall rolls around it’s pretty much guaranteed that we’re going through a loaf of this a week.

It’s my favorite brunch addition, housewarming gift, or just a foolproof way to wake Mats up in the morning

& hey because you can eat it with coffee that TECHNICALLY means

it’s breakfast

 


I N G R E D I E N T S


• CAKE •

1/2 cup butter – room temp

3/4 cup white sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup sour cream

1 1/4 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

• CRUMBLE•

1/4 cup dark brown sugar

1/2 cup flour

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons butter – chilled

    I made this last night and am now having it for breakfast (with coffee lol).
    It was super easy and yet looks a bit more snazzy than just your average “loaf cake”
    Also, very tasty and reminds me of cinnamon sugar pancakes (or crepes as you would say) – which btw is that just a South African thing??? Thanks for the recipe 🙂
    P.S.bonus points – my fiance also thoroughly enjoyed the batter lol
